Tottenham’s focus does not go beyond this weekend’s fixture against Sheffield United with all the talk in the capital right now is on the upcoming London derby. Spurs and Arsenal meet each other at the Emirates Stadium next week.

It will be Postecoglou’s first as Spurs boss and given his side’s unbeaten start to the season excitement is building for the fixture against Mikel Arteta’s men. The 58-year-old admits he is already being stopped in the street by supporters and the talk has already started for one of the biggest games of the season.

However, Postecoglou does not want Tottenham’s focus to be on anything other than Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United. The home side will be heavy favourites to pick up another three points.

Tottenham have opened the campaign with

three wins and a draw from their four

matches and sit second in the table. Their 5-

2 thrashing of Burnley last time out took

their goal tally to 11, the joint-highest with

Man City and only two sides have conceded

fewer goals with clean sheets in two of their

four matches.

That’s in stark contrast to United, who have

lost three out of their opening four matches

but registered their first point last time out

at home to Everton. The form guide points

to another home win and Paul

Heckingbottom’s men will be out to upset

the odds, which is why Postecoglou is keen

to see focus remain on Saturday’s match and

not the derby.

“Yeah but it’s Sheffield United first,” he told

TalkSport when asked if he was looking

forward to the derby. “We’re taking it a

game at a time, game at a time. It’s a big

game and when I get stopped in the street

it’s the first fixture people talk about,

whatever side of the fence they are on.

“It should be a good game but we have to

focus on the weekend first.”
