“They both loved me” – 25-year-old chose between Leicester City and Nottingham Forest, very interesting career by – Sport Witness

Former Leicester City defender Alexandru Pascanu is in the news today in Spanish newspaper La Nueva Espana.

The 25-year-old from Ponferradina is on loan at Sporting Gijon and has been out in the second division this season.

Pascanu spent years in Leicester City’s academy and now reveals he could have built his early career at Nottingham Forest instead of the Foxes.

This was after he moved to England when his parents left Romania in search of a better life. Then he caught the attention of both clubs. – When I was six years old, I played in the city team. A year later a scout from Leicester City and another from Nottingham Forest came and they invited me for a trial. I went to both clubs. They both loved me. Then my father asked me where I wanted to go. 0:00

“The distance is almost the same. But I felt better at Leicester City than Nottingham Forest. When I arrived, the team was in the championship. But they are relegated to the Premier League. They had many financial problems. I remember how everything changed… Sports City was not so good then. But the club started to grow.”

Pascanu played for Leicester City at U-18, U-19 and U-21 level but never got the chance to make his first-team debut.

He left the Foxes in 2019 when CFR Cluk bought him for just €600,000. Since then he has also played for FC Voluntari, Ponferradina and now Sporting Gijon, who have the opportunity to buy him at the end of the season. We now wonder if things would have been different had he chosen Nottingham Forest then.
