Salah found Premier League and#039;cheat code and#039; Liverpool and Pickford know it andquot; And no one celebrated!andquot; | Jürgen Klopp
scored the equalizer from Mohamed Salah We pay for stories! Send your
video to video@trinitymirror.com Mohamed Salah has been behind some
of Liverpool’s greatest goals of the Premier League era, be it his stunning
solos against Manchester City, Spurs and Watford or his thunderous goal against
Chelsea. Perhaps most notably, in 2017, his first year at the club, he won the
Puskas Award for curling in the Merseyside Derby. But if you look at the ten caps played in the Premier League
this season, it would be fair to characterize many of them as a bit ugly
and#039;. He opened his account for the campaign by slotting home a converted
penalty against Bournemouth and that kind of set the tone. A few weeks later he
switched to the back post after a corner at home to Aston Villa, and against
Everton in October he had an even easier task when Darwin Núñez cleared the ball
at the end. two on one counter attack in stoppage time with Jordan Pickford
helpless. In contrast, Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner gifted the
Egyptian a goal later that month after a disastrous tussle with Harry Toffolo
outside the penalty area, where Salah fed it into an unguarded net and most
recently against Mark Flekken’s Brentford. #039;couldn’t stop him even
when he was led by Kostas Tsimikasand#039; over at home Add his
three penalties conceded and it’s not the best streak you’ll see, even with 10 goals
already. Only two of his goals fell below 0.4 xG and one of them (the
aforementioned Brentford header) was almost there at 0.39. His combined xG on
10 shots is 5.83, which means he has an average scoring chance of about 58
percent. Contrast that with Manchester City and Erling Haaland, the only man to
have scored more than Salah in the league this season (12) and the man who
built his successful bid to break the winger’s ugly goalscoring record last
season. However, despite his reputation as a poacher, Haaland averaged just 0.42
xG per goal, significantly less than Salah. Although Liverpool’s strikes have so far
not featured in the goal of the month discussions, they are admirable in
another way, as they speak to the strength of his goal-scoring instincts.
More than ever, the vastly experienced Salah knows exactly where to be. When
you have a striker who can consistently position himself on a break ball in the
penalty area, it’s practically a cheat code when it comes to scoring chances. It’s not
a given that Salah can keep it up, but it could be the key to following the near-
invincible Haaland into the Golden Boot race, at least this season.
