Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Falcons linebacker Nate Landman sat out Wednesday and practiced with a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday’s 24-15 win over the New Orleans Saints.

The good news, though, is that Falcons coach Arthur Smith doesn’t think the injury is significantΒ  one However, that didn’t stop the Falcons from adding Frank Ginda to their practice squad, as team reporter Terrin Waack first reported.

Ginda, a former USFL Defensive Player of the Year, is a familiar face in Flowery Branch after joining the Falcons in August.

Ginda played in two preseason games for the Falcons and finished with 12 total tackles before being suspended.

He will now return to Atlanta primarily as a backup if Landman is suddenly unable to play against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Before Landmans injury, the Falcons already had tight end linebacker room when Troy Andersen was placed on injured reserve with a chest injury that required potentially season-ending surgery after just three games. October 22, 2023; Tampa, Florida, USA;

Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports Andersen, a former second-round pick, played a big role in year two when he had to pair with Kaden Ellis as the two starting inside linebackers.

However, the partnership lasted two games due to a concussion and then a chest injury.

With Andersen sidelined, the Falcons turned to Landman, who despite being a free agent in the 2022 NFL Draft has exceeded expectations since being drafted.

In 11 games, nine of which he started, Landman totaled 73 tackles, including four tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, two sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

Landman is currently tied for third on the team in tackles, trailing only Jessie Bates III and her defensive partner Ellis.

As for the rest of the Falcons participation report, running back Cordarrelle Patterson and Calais Campbell joined Landman as non-participants due to days off.

Additionally, punter Mack Hollins and left tackle Jake Matthews were limited, while cornerback Mike Hughes participated fully. Full participation –
