Iling-Junior was born in Islington and spent nearly a decade on Chelsea’s books before heading to Turin as a teenager. The 20-year-old graduated from Juve’s academy and progressed through their reserve side to become a fully-fledged member of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.

Racking up 18 appearances last season and scoring once, Iling-Junior has banked senior Champions League experience, and his performances have earned him a spot in the England Under-21s squad.

But the youngster has seen his game time limited this season, with all four of his Serie A appearances coming from the bench.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus are willing to cash in on Iling-Junior this winter to free up space and funds for a midfield recruit. And Tottenham are reportedly at the front of the queue.

The north Londoners were quoted £17.3million for the wide man when they expressed an interest last summer, but it is now understood that Juve would be willing to accept as little as £15.5m.

It remains to be seen exactly how Postecoglou plans to use the versatile star if he returns to English football after a three-year spell abroad. Tottenham spearheaded the Premier League table after 10 games but they have fallen away dramatically since injuries took hold.

James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are among those to have missed out in recent weeks, with the Lilywhites dropping down to fifth after three consecutive defeats.

Aston Villa are the latest team to emerge from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium victorious, as goals from Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins rubber-stamped a comeback win on Sunday.
