IT’S A SAD NEWS: Two Warriors Star Players Suspended Due To What Transpired…
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is back after a 12-game suspension.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been reinstated after serving a 12-game suspension, the National Basketball Association announced Saturday.
Green was ejected from a 119-116 loss to the Phoenix Suns on December 12 after spinning and hitting center Jusuf Nurkic with his right hand in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Green insisted the Suns big man’s hit was an accident at the time, later saying, “I’m not one to apologize for the things I’m going to do, but I apologize to Yusuf because I didn’t mean it.
I just sold the call because he grabbed me and pulled me by the hip, so I turned away and unfortunately I hit him.”However, the NBA suspended Green indefinitely on December 14, “[in] light of Green’s repeated unsportsmanlike conduct.
“The 33-year-old’s suspension was his
second of the season and he also missed five
games for striking Minnesota Timberwolves
center Rudy Gobert in a November
scrimmage.
As part of the latest suspension, Green was
required to “meet certain league and team
conditions before returning to play.”
According to the NBA, Green has met with a
counselor and met with representatives of
the league, the Warriors and the players
union several times and will continue to do
so during the season.
While it is unlikely that Verdo will return to
the court immediately as he works to get his
game back on track, having his suspension
lifted is a welcome move for the Warriors.
Golden State suffered a big loss for their
team on Friday night when 12-time All-Star
Chris Paul broke his left arm in a narrow
win over the Detroit Pistons.
Paul won’t be out long this week due to
surgery, so the rookie’s return to Green will
be a slight relief for head coach Steve Kerr
as he looks to bring the team together.
