SAD NEWS JALEN HURTS SET TO MISS PLAYOFFS AS HE UNDERGOES SURGERY TODAY –

Insider Gives Update On Jalen Hurts’ Injury

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a major ego hit Sunday after the New York Giants cruised to victory over them in the final game of the regular season.

The loss had other consequences, too, after wide receiver A.J. Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts sustained injuries in the game.

Brown left with a knee injury and didn’t return, while Hurts briefly left after he dislocated his middle finger but came back before the Eagles benched their starters after halftime.

While the severity of Brown’s injury isn’t yet known, X-rays on Hurts’ finger revealed the quarterback did not suffer a fracture, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, and he is considered day-to-day with the injury.

This is probably the most positive news to come out of Philadelphia in recent weeks, as Hurts’ availability will likely decide how the Eagles perform in their matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.

Hurts has been inconsistent at times this season but has, for the most part, kept the Eagles in games when the defense has folded.

If Hurts can’t go, though, Marcus Mariota would play under center in the road playoff game.

The Eagles are playing their worst football at the worst time, and the injuries keep piling up right at the end of the season as wide receiver DeVonta Smith and cornerback Darius Slay missed Week 18 with injuries and safety Sydney Brown tore his ACL in the game.

The last time the Eagles faced the Buccaneers in Week 3, Philadelphia easily won in a 25-11 victory.

But both teams have changed over the season, with the Eagles looking less like the team that went to the Super Bowl a year ago.
