Postecoglou has jumped to the defence of 26-years Old Starlet after his performance in the north London club.

Postecoglou has jumped to the defence of

Richarlison after his performance in the

north London club’s 4-2 defeat against

Barcelona on Tuesday.

Richarlison was leading the line in place of

Harry Kane but was unable to make much

of an impact in Tottenham‘s last pre-season

game.

On the Brazilian, Postecoglou was quoted as

saying by the Daily Mail: “He’s had a bit of a

knock and missed a few days training.

“But he works so hard for the team and he

was a bit unlucky with a couple of his

chances.”

It could be a big season for Richarlison at

Tottenham, with Kane’s future currently up

in the air. If the England captain does go on

to depart north London, the Brazil

international may be given a more leading

role this season.

Richarlison can still come good at Tottenham

Whether Kane leaves Tottenham or not,

Richarlison can still be a useful player for

Postecoglou.

The last campaign did not go well for the 26-

year-old, who managed to score just one

Premier League goal.

Gamper Trophy)

However, his overall record in the division

is quite decent. He was such a dangerous

forward during his time at Everton, hence

Spurs’ decision to go out and spend £60m on him.

Tottenham supporters have not seen the

kind of threat he showed at Goodison Park

just yet, but perhaps under a new manager

things may improve.

Richarlison has proven that he can do it at

this level; Postecoglou just needs to help him

rediscover his best form again.

The above is not to say Richarlison is

capable of replacing Kane. But if his team-

mate departs, the former Everton man has

to step up and certainly has the ability to. In

Postecoglou’s ideal world, though, Kane

obviously remains in north London this

summer.

Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a

move to sign Tottenham defender Joe Rodon

on loan for the 2023-24 campaign – and

surely Dan James has played a key role,

given he is the player Rodon has played

alongside most.

Rodon, 25, returned to Tottenham this

summer to find himself some way down the

pecking order. On Tuesday, the North

London side announced the signing of

Micky van de Ven. It pushed Wales star

Rodon down the rankings.

After an up-and-down season at Ligue 1 side

Rennes, Rodon is now set to return to the

Championship – after his move from

Swansea to Tottenham in 2020 for a fee of

£15m. Leeds have moved quickly after Liam

Cooper’s injury.

Leeds close in on Joe Rodon, Surely Dan

James has played a key role

While Rodon has failed to kick on in terms

of his club career, his international career

has been excellent. Already, Rodon has 36

caps for Wales and is first choice in the

middle of Rob Page’s defence. Alongside,

Dan James.

Ethan Ampadu, too. But with James, Rodon

came through at Swansea. Playing for

Swansea’s U18, U21 and senior side together

– as well as Wales U18, U19, U21 and then

senior side, the duo have shared the same XI

100 times.

For both James and Rodon, neither star has

played alongside another player more. So

the mere presence of our £25m winger will

surely have convinced Rodon to make the

move to Elland Road – with a deal expected

very soon.

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reported that

Rodon is on his way to Leeds with Cooper

now out for the next eight weeks. A real

blow, given how key Cooper is going to be

for us over the next nine months. Rodon is a

solid signing.
