Was Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills a turning point for New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones?

To say it’s been a rough season for Jones would be an understatement, but in Week 7, the third-year signal caller finally got his look. He led the Patriots down the field in the fourth quarter and threw a touchdown pass to tight end Mike Gesick to secure a 29-25 comeback victory.

“Well, I think it’s going to be a lot of help on two different fronts,” Perry said. “One, Mac Jones’ self-belief, I think that kind of performance should help. You couldn’t play the way he played this game against the team. The stretch should improve his confidence. “He’s played like a player this season with no confidence that I think this drive can go far if Mac Jones believes in himself. He told me after the game, ‘I always believe in myself,’ but that faith wavered, we all seem to be watching and he even mentioned it a few times in press conferences this year.

As for the team’s faith in Jones, Perry adds that while the players expressed faith in the QB, they made sure to mention that it was a total team effort.

“I had a chance to talk to David Andrews right after he stepped off the podium today and he said, ‘I think we have a lot of faith in Mac.’ kind of an extra football win for them. They haven’t been able to. put these kinds of plays together in a long, long time,” Perry said. “You got some kicking contributions from your punter Bryce Baringer and kicker Chad Ryland, a couple of freshmen. The defense makes big plays and the offense comes out at the end. I felt like it was Andrews or any of the other players I talked to. to after the game when you wanted to bring out Mac Jones, they certainly praised him, but it was, “It really was a team win, every unit contributed. here.’ When they lost, it wasn’t just the quarterback and it wasn’t just the quarterback.”

Jones’ self-belief and the Patriots’ confidence going into the first game of 2021 will only improve if New England can pull off another upset in Miami next week. They visit the Dolphins next Sunday, kickoff at 1:00 PM ET.
