🚨 Extremely Sad News 😔 : : This is never more evident than when Tatum complains

Jalen Rose tells Jayson Tatum to stop crying

The Boston Celtics had a great opportunity to get past the Miami Heat on Saturday night. Boston lost Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals despite being at home and facing a Heat team that was without Jimmy Butler for the entire second half. A big part of why the Celtics couldn’t capitalize was the notable absence of Jayson Tatum, who finished with 10 points on 3-of-14 shooting.

Tatum has been heralded as the next big superstar scorer, but he still has a long way to go before he becomes the next group of proven big men capable of leading his team to a championship.

This is never more evident than when Tatum complains to the ref. Seedling#039; has been a constant problem for him for the past few years. In every game, no matter the circumstances, there are several moments where Tatum gives up in transition protection to get the referees in his head. This has happened many times this season and it drives head coach Ime Udoka up the wall.

Heand is not the only one bothered by the mockery. Jalen Rose appeared on Get Up this morning and told Tatum to stop crying in front of the refs. This thing is symbolically the last wall that Tatum has to break through. Constantly complaining to the referee is a sign that a young player is trying to demand respect instead of earning it. Probably all the big stars of the NBA can see the referees.

Officiating is an art form perfected by guys like LeBron James and Chris Paul. The term “superstar talk” is probably overdone now, but it’s true. Taking advantage of the ambiguity of 50/50 calls is part of the leap from star to superstar, the same leap Tatum is trying to make in these playoffs.

But he is still not getting those calls and constantly complaining about it will only hurt his case. Worse, he lets it get to his head. Tatumand’s body language will defeat him if he doesn’t get whistled on a few consecutive plays. He becomes passive. He spends more time yelling at the umpires than closing down assignments on a Saturday night.

Not only does this set a terrible example for trying to manage a team, it actively hurts their efforts to win by having to defend with four men instead of five on one or two possessions every quarter. In the playoffs, it’s the difference between winning and going home for the summer.

Tatumand’s track record of stinkers like Game 3 means the head will come out of Game 4 tonight. He had a similar effort in Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks last series, scoring just 10 points in a two-point loss.

Tatum then averaged 33 points per game in the final four games of the series while shooting 47 percent from the floor. In the segment above, Rose wants Tatum to be more aggressive. There is no doubt that he can do so much tonight.

But it is not clear whether the head will get rid of his bad habit of crying in front of the referee. This classification may seem harsh, but that is exactly what it does. The head looks over its shoulder after the slightest contact, blinks and complains. If Tatum just puts his head down and gets to work, good things will happen. He doesn’t get all the calls he wants.

He might not even get a proper whistle for the entire match because the delivery is difficult and we have no idea what they call night and night most of the time. But he did not put his team at the advantage of shorthand because the umpires distract him. That alone is worth the effort.

Rose is saying what every Celtics fan has been thinking for a few years now. Tatum needs to stop complaining and do it.
