Liverpool’s midfield has become the talk of the fans when it comes to the High

Flying Reds players. The team’s bench, which at times in the offseason seemed

to contain more question marks than actual players, suddenly became the

deepest and most reliable unit on the entire team. Among the players with the

main responsibility is Curtis Jones, the other Scouser of the equipment. Entering

the season, Jones appeared to be a bit behind on the depth chart, even if the

center field unit consisted of new additions. Past disappointments can do

that to even the most promising players and unfortunately Jones has found

himself in the unenviable position of having to find ways to show everyone

that he is still a good bet for Klopp and Co to fulfill his potential. decides to

transfer him to the first team. After playing for England Under-21s at the U21

European Championship and leading the Young Lions to the cup with some

scintillating performances in midfield, there was certainly a hint that Curtis

could make a leap in quality. However, this year’s performance times leave no doubt about that. Only 22, it’s a little

shocking to think, but he’s a bit of an elder statesman at the club and certainly

in the midfield unit. As part of an appearance on the club’s official podcast,

Jones had some thoughts on just that.

“There’s been a huge change in the team and I’m one of the guys who’s been here –

it’s crazy to say I’m only 22 but I’ve been here [since] 17. Now the guys are coming and it’s theirs. for the first time in the

team, so I’m like an experienced person who’s been through the whole thing for a

long time. So yes, even though I’m young, I feel like I’m one of the more

experienced ones and I know how the manager and the staff like [us] to go

play.” In a team full of leaders, it’s great to see more young kids continue to

develop their skills. It is no small dream that, perhaps alongside Scouser Trent

Alexander-Arnold, Jones could form part of another Scouse captain-vice-captain duo.
