Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov, given time to reflect, regrets comments made about teammate Jeremy Swayman
Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov has addressed and clarified his recent comments regarding teammate Jeremy Swayman, following the Bruins’ 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. During the game, Swayman attempted to engage in a fight with Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper after a scrum involving Bruins winger Marat Khusnutdinov. Postgame, when asked about Swayman’s actions, Zadorov’s terse response—“Is that what it is? Okay. I don’t know. No comment.”—raised eyebrows and led to speculation about potential discord within the team.

In a subsequent media session, Zadorov clarified that his earlier remarks were not intended as a slight against Swayman. He explained that his frustration stemmed from the team’s performance and the nature of the question posed after a significant loss. Zadorov emphasized the importance of team unity and expressed appreciation for players standing up for each other, highlighting the strong culture within the Bruins organization.
Zadorov also mentioned that he and Swayman have since discussed the incident and remain on good terms. He acknowledged Swayman’s vital role on the team and expressed optimism about their future together, aiming for playoff success and a potential Stanley Cup victory.
This clarification comes amid a challenging period for the Bruins, who are striving to overcome a six-game losing streak and regain their competitive edge in the league.
