Chicago HAS TO start over! – Michael Wilbon on Bulls being open to trading Zach LaVine |…

CHICAGO — Bulls guard Zach LaVine admitted he’s disappointed with Chicago’s 4-7 start to the 2023-24 season, but dodged a question about whether he wants to be traded.

Now is not the time to talk about it,andquot; LaVine said after the shooting Wednesday morning. andquot;Play the Orlando Magic tonight and try to win. If something comes up later, I’ll talk about it.

AD The Bulls entered the season with postseason expectations after returning nearly all of their team from last year, but they were able to come out of the gate offensively, where they finished 21st in the NBA in offensive efficiency according to NBA.com, and defensively.

22nd place. Chicago is in its third season with a roster built around a core of LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, which produced a first-round exit in 2022, lost the play-in tournament last season and is off to a slow start this season.

I’m disappointed and we can’t win, andquot; LaVine said Wednesday. andquot;I think if you’re not disappointed, that’s the problem. It’s shocking when we’ve spent the last three or four years trying to do the right thing.

It seems we are in the same place. We trying to get over this hump.andquot; LaVine has been the subject of rumors throughout his NBA career, including last summer when ESPN reported that rival teams had checked with the Bulls about his availability.

But LaVine has typically responded by quashing such speculation, including in training camp when he told ESPN that my camp didn’t stop them.

I committed to the Bulls when I signed my five-year contract.andquot; On Wednesday morning, he took a different tack. andquot; That’s why I have representatives like Rich Paul, andquot; LaVine said, referring to his agent. and If he speaks for me, that’s my agent.

With that and him, I’m clearly in my camp. They talk with Arturas [Karnisovas] and them. My job is to go here and play. Simplify.

LaVine is currently in his seventh season in Chicago after being acquired on draft night in 2017 in the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After recovering from an ACL injury this summer, LaVine became a two-time All-Star in Chicago. During his Bulls career, he averaged 24.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

He’s also off to a slow start this season, shooting 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists on 41 percent shooting through the first 11 games.

But the Bulls will have to lean on LaVine against the Magic on Wednesday. Chicago will be without DeRozan (personal reasons) and guard Alex Caruso (toe) is questionable. and As long as I put on this Chicago Bulls jersey, I will win and I will play my heart out, andquot; LaVine said.

I take nothing for granted, my stay here has been nothing short of amazing. I grew up here. I raised a family here. Had great memories. I hope people understand how much I care about Chicago. …

When you’re in a winning situation, a lot of gossip and business stuff doesn’t come up. Obviously we want to win tonight and get things back on track.
