“Former Miami Heat Champion Finds New Home in Mexico: What Led Dexter Pittman to Join Halcones de Xalapa?”

Report: Former Miami Heat star signed with Mexican team Last update: 17/12/2023 18:25 Peter Aiken – USA Today Sports Former Miami Heat forward Dexter Pittman has a new home. Pittman, who won a championship with the Heat in 2012, has signed with Mexican team Halcones de Xalapa through the 2023-24 season, according to HoopsHype. Pittman played college basketball at the University of Texas before being selected by the Heat in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft. He stayed with Miami for the 2012-13 season, and was part of the 2011-12 team that won the league championship by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the NBA Finals. In addition to playing for the Heat, Pittman was also a member of the Memphis Grizzlies and the Atlanta Hawks. He last appeared in an NBA game in 2014 against Atlanta. Almost 10 years later, he is still playing professionally. This season, the Heat are trying to repeat the success they had in 2011-12. Roughly two months into the current campaign, Miami sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15-11 record. Considering the number of injuries they’ve had to deal with, the Heat are off to a great start. Tyler Herro has played in just eight games for the Heat this season due to an ankle injury, while other key contributors like Bam Adebayo have been forced to miss time. While the absence has greatly hampered the Heat’s pace and consistency, they still have a winning record and remain in a strong position to make a push in the East.Moving forward, we can only hope that the Heat can get their players back on the floor to work through their injuries and prepare. Good news about that came on Sunday. Miami has six games left before the schedule flips from 2023 to 2024. The games will be played against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz. This won’t be an easy game, but the Heat will try to turn the year around by putting together some wins to build momentum to bring it into 2024. Featured in:
