Celtics news: Jaylen Brown vs unfinished Boston scares NBA Despite missing two starters and terrible three-point shooting, the Boston Celtics were able to beat the Atlanta Hawks 113-103 on Sunday. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 34 points, while Jaylen Brown added 21 points as Boston went 13-4 on the season. With all the talent the Celtics have, it’s easy to forget that they went through a lot of changes in the offseason.
They brought in Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday over the summer, but gave up Malcolm Brogdon, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams and Grant Williams. It’s amazing to see how quickly Boston has solidified despite the personnel changes. Brown added that much of their success comes largely from their defense. Atlanta entered Sunday night averaging 145 points over its last three games. The Celtics held them to just 103 points on 40.9 percent shooting despite shooting just 27.7 percent from beyond the arc.
