Kane and the £100 million deal to Bayern might still haunt Man Utd.

Harry Kane has moved on to Bayern Munich

after Manchester United decided against

signing him, but the Reds might still face the

England captain this year.

After Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern

Munich was finalized, Manchester United

might still be plagued by what might have

been.

Erik ten Hag’s side have acted decisively in

the transfer market as the club gear up for

what they hope will be another successful

campaign. United have long been in

desperate need of a new striker but

ultimately opted against a move for Kane

this summer, who had entered the last year

of his deal at Tottenham Hotspur, amid the

pricetag and the feeling that Spurs would

not want to sell to a Premier League rival.

Instead, United turned to Rasmus Hojlund in

a £72million deal, with the club placing faith

in the Dane for the long-term. Kane has now

completed a £100million move to German

champions Bayern Munich but United could

be set to line up against the England captain

in the Champions League

United have been placed in pot two for the

Champions League draw, which will take

place on August 31. The Reds are alongside

the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and

Borussia Dortmund in the second pot.

But Bayern and Kane will be in pot one,

meaning they could still be pitted against

one another in a bid to go deep into Europe.

Even if their paths were not to cross in the

group stage, they could meet in the

knockouts as Kane seeks a first major trophy

of his career.

Going face-to-face with Kane at his new club

could issue a reminder to United, not they

will need it, of the qualities the England

captain possesses even if Ten Hag has

already firmly moved on.

“I don’t think that I have to go into that

discussion or give an opinion about that,”

the United boss said, when asked about

Kane. “We are professional, the processes

we do are really careful.

“We consider a lot of things but finally we

make decisions, we don’t take decisions

overnight, there is a strategy in every

decision behind and we are happy with the

squad we have behind us now.”

“We have chosen a striker and we are really

happy with our choice,” Ten Hag continued.

“He’s a great striker. A goal-maker and apart

from that he has all the conditions and

abilities that you want to see in a striker. It’s

a miss for the Premier League.
