Several players have left the club, including David De Gea, who is starting a new chapter elsewhere after a legendary 12-year career with the Reds. Fred, the club’s popular midfielder for five years, left for Fenerbahce. He could face his former team-mate there as Eric Bailly joined Besiktas days after England’s transfer deadline day, and the Turkish window remains open until September 15.

On 24 August, two transfers were announced: Brandon Williams was loaned to Ipswich Town and Noam Emeran left for Groningen. A week later, ahead of the summer transfer window, Dean Henderson and Teden Mengi both left for Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Luton Town.

Marc Jurado left the club on deadline day, signing for La Liga side Espanyol, ending his three-year association with the Reds. Young striker Charlie McNeill will spend the rest of the 2023/24 season on loan at League One side Stevenage.
