Why aren’t the Chicago Bulls starting Alex Caruso despite the veteran point guard’s stabilizing influence when he’s on the court?

In the final two periods of the loss of the Chicago Bulls against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, Kevin Durant simply could not shake Alex Caruso.

The guard was a shadow covering a longer forward, arms swinging as he tapped the ball. Caruso knew he couldn’t stop Durant from taking shots.

So he agreed to be a pest, poking every pass and poking the ball whenever Durant brought it under his shoulders.The result was equal parts furious and effective.

Caruso held Durant to just four points over the final 13 minutes of the game, preventing the 13-time All-Star from winning in a game where he is usually the most lethal.

It wasn’t enough to win the game, but Caruso’s performance caught the attention of rivals, teammates and fans alike.
