“Will Ajax’s Troublesome Transfer Window Lead to a January Move for Van de Beek to Manchester United?”

DNA supporters happy as manager wanted Manchester United transfer – Sport Witness

Even before Ajax’s match against Feyenoord at the weekend, things were not going well for the Amsterdam club.

Their summer transfer window looked tenuous and the squad and the management behind it were not averse to a title challenge. There is more drama in the Dutch media today after the game against Feyenoord was abandoned at half time with Ajax losing 3-0 at the time.

Part of that comes from Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek. Director of football Sven Mislinta was sacked on Sunday night, his confidence eroded after a summer of complaints that he used a company in which he owned shares to facilitate a move. Many fans were already upset with him, and according to AD on Monday, Van de Beek was one of the reasons. The story goes that Ajax manager Maurice Steijn wanted the Manchester United player, but Mislintat had other ideas. AD says: “The fact that he wanted Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico will probably please the supporters because they complain about Ajax’s DNA, which nobody knows for sure. But you can still ask yourself if it would help Ajax if these guys came. back. Van de Beek has rarely played in recent years…”

If the midfielder’s current situation at Manchester United continues, Steijn will surely have a good chance of signing him during the January window… if he is still on Ajax’s payroll.
