These issues come on the heels of comments from Eastern Conference executives who recently discussed the possibility of Hayward joining the Heat.Hayward is in his 14th NBA season and fourth with the Hornets. In the 2023-24 season, he has played in 23 games so far, averaging 15.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 46.8% and a field goal percentage of 37.3% of 3-point shots. The veteran has struggled to stay healthy since joining the Hornets, never reaching more than 50 games in a season with the team. However, Hayward can snap that streak this season as he has hit 23 of the Hornets’ 26 games this season.Hayward has been productive and mostly available for the Hornets since the start of the season, but given his age (33), it appears he won’t be on the Hornets’ roster. The Hornets have a poor 7-19 record and appear to be out of contention for the playoffs as they have lost their last six games. The last time the Hornets won was almost two weeks ago, on December 8, when they defeated the Toronto Raptors at home. In 35 minutes of play, Hayward scored 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, leading the team to a 3-point victory.Hayward is the biggest addition for the Heat as he can do everything on the offensive end of the court and is a solid defender.
