American Kevin Vermaerke to transfer to Visma–Lease a Bike Tour de France team in 2026…

American cyclist Kevin Vermaerke has confirmed a transfer for the 2026 season, but contrary to some reports, he will be joining UAE Team Emirates–XRG rather than Visma–Lease a Bike. After several successful years with Team DSM, Vermaerke has signed a two-year contract that will see him ride alongside notable talents such as Tadej Pogačar starting in 2026.

This move represents a significant step in Vermaerke’s career, as UAE Team Emirates continues to strengthen its roster with young, promising riders. The American rider is expected to bring his climbing and time-trial abilities to the team, contributing to their ambitions in Grand Tours, including the Tour de France.

Meanwhile, Visma–Lease a Bike has also been active in the transfer market, securing several new signings for the upcoming seasons. However, Kevin Vermaerke is not among their confirmed recruits. Their incoming riders include names like Pietro Mattio, Davide Piganzoli, and Bruno Armirail, as the team aims to build a competitive squad for both classics and stage races.

Vermaerke’s decision to join UAE Team Emirates signals his intention to develop further under a team known for supporting young talents and contending at the highest level. Fans and analysts alike will be watching how this move impacts his progression and the dynamics within the professional peloton as the 2026 season approaches.
