CONFIRMED: Payne Haas Will Depart from Brisbane Broncos After 2025 Season

One of the NRL’s most dominant forwards, Payne Haas, has officially confirmed he will depart the Brisbane Broncos at the end of the 2025 season, ending a powerhouse era in the club’s engine room. The announcement, made Thursday morning, comes amid months of speculation about Haas’s long-term future and growing interest from rival clubs.

Haas, 25, has been the heart of Brisbane’s forward pack since making his debut in 2018, earning multiple Dally M Prop of the Year titles and representing both New South Wales and Australia with distinction. His decision to leave marks a significant shift in the Broncos’ roster heading into the post-2025 era.

“This has been one of the toughest decisions of my life,” Haas said in a personal statement. “Brisbane has been my home since day one, and I’ll always be grateful to the club, the fans, and my teammates. But I believe the time is right for a new challenge.”

The Broncos also released a statement thanking Haas for his service and confirming that the club had been informed of his decision early this week.

“Payne has given everything to this club, on and off the field,” said Broncos coach Kevin Walters. “We respect his decision and look forward to finishing the 2025 season strong with him leading our pack.”

While Haas has not yet revealed his next destination, reports suggest he has been approached by multiple NRL rivals, with speculation also growing around interest from rugby union and Super League franchises abroad.

For now, Haas remains fully committed to the Broncos as he prepares to lead their charge for a premiership in what will now be his farewell season.

“I’ve still got unfinished business here,” he added. “2025 is about going all in and giving everything I’ve got in a Broncos jersey.”

The news has sparked an emotional reaction from Brisbane fans and the wider NRL community, many of whom consider Haas one of the most physically dominant and consistent forwards of the modern era.

His exit will leave a massive void in Brisbane’s forward pack — and a major opportunity for other clubs chasing one of the league’s most valuable players.
