In a groundbreaking move that has stunned the college football world, Alabama Crimson Tide captain and star linebacker Dallas Turner has signed a historic 4-year Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal with the University of Colorado, valued at a staggering \$10.9 million. The deal is believed to be the largest NIL agreement ever made for a defensive player in NCAA history.
Turner, who was widely regarded as the heart of Alabama’s defense and a projected first-round NFL Draft pick, announced the decision on social media Monday morning. The deal will see him suit up for Coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes through the 2028 season.
“This is about legacy, leadership, and building something special,” Turner said in his announcement. “Coach Prime is changing the game, and I want to be a part of that revolution.”
Coach Sanders welcomed Turner with open arms, calling him a “transformational player” for Colorado’s defense. “Dallas Turner is a once-in-a-generation athlete and leader. His presence will elevate our entire program,” said Sanders.
The NIL deal includes national endorsement campaigns, media appearances, and equity stakes in sports-focused ventures affiliated with the Prime brand. Turner is also expected to play a key leadership role within the team, mentoring younger players and helping shape the Buffaloes’ new defensive identity.
Alabama fans were left reeling by the announcement, as Turner was a fan favorite and key part of their championship-caliber defense. New Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer issued a brief statement wishing Turner well and acknowledging his impact in Tuscaloosa.
Turner will join Colorado’s fall training camp in August, with his debut anticipated in a nationally televised season opener that now promises to be one of the most-watched games of the year.
With this move, Colorado continues its aggressive rise in college football prominence, proving once again that under Coach Prime, no dream is too big.
