CONFIRMED: Mathieu van der Poel Will Depart from Team Alpecin–Deceuninck After 2025 Season

In a major development within the world of professional cycling, Dutch superstar Mathieu van der Poel has officially confirmed he will part ways with Team Alpecin–Deceuninck at the end of the 2025 season. The announcement was made via a joint statement from both van der Poel and team management, marking the end of a highly successful and storied partnership.

Van der Poel, who has ridden with Alpecin–Deceuninck since 2011 (previously known under different sponsor names), has become one of the most versatile and dominant figures in modern cycling. During his time with the team, he has captured numerous cyclocross world titles, Monument victories, and stage wins across Grand Tours, including the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia.

“It’s been an incredible journey with Alpecin–Deceuninck,” van der Poel said. “They believed in me from the beginning, and we achieved so much together. But I feel the time is right for a new chapter, new goals, and new challenges.”

Team officials praised van der Poel for his leadership, commitment, and the historic moments he brought to the team and its fans. While his next destination remains unconfirmed, speculation is already swirling about potential moves to WorldTour giants such as Ineos Grenadiers or UAE Team Emirates.

Van der Poel is expected to complete the 2025 season with a full race calendar, including appearances at the Tour de France, the UCI Road World Championships, and his beloved cyclocross campaign in the winter.

More details are expected in the coming months regarding his next team and long-term vision. For now, fans are preparing to bid farewell to one of the most iconic riders ever to don the Alpecin–Deceuninck colors.
