Dutch cycling superstar Mathieu van der Poel has officially confirmed he will leave Team Alpecin–Deceuninck at the end of the 2025 season, bringing an end to one of the sport’s most successful and recognizable partnerships.
The announcement was made in a joint statement with team management, thanking supporters for years of shared victories and historic moments. Van der Poel has spent his entire professional career with the squad (including its prior sponsor iterations), racking up multiple cyclocross world titles, Monument victories, and memorable Grand Tour stage wins.
“This team has been my family since the beginning. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved together,” van der Poel said. “But I feel it’s time for a new challenge and new goals beyond 2025.”
Team officials praised van der Poel’s contributions, leadership, and ability to inspire a generation of riders. While his next destination remains unannounced, speculation has already linked him to several WorldTour teams eager to sign one of cycling’s most versatile stars.
Van der Poel is expected to see out the 2025 season with a full calendar, including the Tour de France, World Championships, and a winter cyclocross campaign.
More details on his future plans are expected in the coming months.
