The first day of LSU’s 2026 fall camp offered an early glimpse into what the Tigers hope will be a significantly improved defense this season. While it is far too early to draw definitive conclusions, the opening practice highlighted several encouraging trends, including energy, communication, and competition across multiple position groups.
Perhaps the most noticeable takeaway was the intensity with which the defense practiced. From individual drills to team periods, players appeared to embrace an aggressive mindset. Coaches consistently emphasized speed to the football, disciplined tackling technique, and maintaining proper gap responsibility. The high-energy atmosphere reflected a defense eager to establish its identity before the season opener.
The defensive line looked particularly active during the opening session.
