The Alabama Crimson Tide enters the 2026 college football season with renewed expectations under head coach Kalen DeBoer. After an offseason filled with roster changes, recruiting success, and intense competition across several positions, the Tide is once again viewed as a contender in the SEC and a team capable of making a run at the expanded College Football Playoff.

Alabama’s 2026 class features several elite prospects and continues to rank near the top nationally, reinforcing the program’s ability to attract top talent despite increased competition across college football.
National expectations remain high, though not quite as lofty as in previous years. Alabama begins the season ranked No. 11 in the preseason coaches poll, marking the first time since 2008 that the Crimson Tide has started outside the top ten. Even so, many analysts believe Alabama possesses the talent to climb quickly if the quarterback position stabilizes and the team develops consistency during the opening weeks of the season.
