In a heartfelt tribute to one of music’s most iconic and influential performers, the City of Nutbush has approved a \$2.5 million project to erect a life-sized bronze statue of the legendary Tina Turner. The monument will be installed outside the Tina Turner Museum, located near her childhood home in Brownsville, Tennessee, and is intended to honor her groundbreaking career, unmatched stage presence, and global cultural legacy.

Tina Turner, often referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” rose from humble beginnings in Nutbush to become an international superstar. Her story — one of perseverance, talent, and reinvention — has inspired generations of fans and artists. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, countless awards, and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Turner’s legacy is cemented in the annals of music history.

The statue, designed by a team of renowned sculptors, will depict Tina in one of her signature stage poses, microphone in hand and full of energy, capturing the essence of her electrifying performances. The base of the statue will feature engraved lyrics from her most beloved songs, as well as a timeline of her career milestones and personal achievements. It will serve not only as a landmark but also as an educational and inspirational site for visitors from around the world.

City officials stated that the project is more than just a statue — it is a symbol of pride for Nutbush and a celebration of a native daughter whose voice and spirit transcended boundaries. “Tina Turner didn’t just represent Nutbush; she represented strength, freedom, and artistic brilliance. This monument ensures that her legacy lives on where it all began,” said Mayor Lorraine Baxter during a press conference announcing the approval.

The unveiling ceremony is expected to draw a large crowd, including family members, fans, fellow artists, and dignitaries. The event will also feature live music tributes and a special exhibit at the museum dedicated to rare photographs, costumes, and personal artifacts from Tina Turner’s life and career.

As the world continues to celebrate her indelible impact on the music industry and popular culture, this statue will stand as a timeless tribute to a woman who defied the odds, broke barriers, and gave the world a voice that will never be forgotten.
