Mariah Carey Celebrates 20 Years of ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ With Deluxe Album and Global Tour
New York, May 2025 – Mariah Carey, the undisputed Queen of Christmas and one of the best-selling female artists of all time, is once again at the center of the pop world as she commemorates the 20th anniversary of her landmark album The Emancipation of Mimi. To celebrate this milestone, Carey has launched a full-scale global campaign that includes a deluxe album reissue, a major international tour, and a wave of renewed appreciation for a record that marked one of the most successful comebacks in music history.
Originally released in 2005, The Emancipation of Mimi was hailed as a triumphant return to form for Carey after several years of personal and professional setbacks. The album spawned massive hits such as “We Belong Together,” “Shake It Off,” and “Don’t Forget About Us,” showcasing Carey’s signature vocal acrobatics and songwriting prowess. It went on to sell over 10 million copies worldwide and earned Carey three Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary R&B Album.
Now, two decades later, Carey is reintroducing the album to a new generation of listeners with a deluxe anniversary edition. The expanded release includes five vinyl records featuring the original tracklist, remixes, unreleased bonus tracks, instrumentals, and a cappella versions. Fans will also receive a 28-page commemorative booklet packed with never-before-seen photos, handwritten lyrics, and a personal letter from Mariah reflecting on the making of the album and its impact on her career.
In her message, Carey expresses gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support through the years and shares how The Emancipation of Mimi represented a deeply personal turning point. “This album was about freedom, about reclaiming my voice and joy,” she writes. “It was more than music—it was a statement.”
To accompany the reissue, Carey is currently headlining a worldwide tour titled The Celebration of Mimi. The tour, which began in spring 2024, spans multiple continents and includes a residency in Las Vegas, performances across Asia and South America, and a final leg in the United States set to conclude in late 2025. Concertgoers are treated to a career-spanning setlist, featuring not only the full Emancipation album but also fan favorites like “Hero,” “Fantasy,” and her iconic holiday anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The show blends high glamour with heartfelt moments, showcasing Carey’s enduring vocal talent and showmanship. With elegant costume changes, dazzling visuals, and emotional tributes to her past, each performance underscores her evolution from a young vocal prodigy to a music legend.
Beyond the tour and album release, Carey has also announced a series of limited-edition merchandise, including vinyl box sets, collector’s apparel, and digital art drops. She has made several surprise appearances on late-night talk shows and social media livestreams, engaging directly with fans in what she calls a “celebration of legacy, love, and Lambily.”
As she continues to command stages and charts around the world, Mariah Carey remains a singular force in the music industry. The Emancipation of Mimi may have marked a comeback twenty years ago, but in 2025, it stands as a reminder of her resilience, artistry, and the timeless power of her voice.
