In an emotional new interview, Queen guitarist Brian May opened up about the personal connection he feels every time he plays his custom Gibson SJ-200 12-string acoustic guitar — a tribute to his late bandmate and dear friend, Freddie Mercury.
“Freddie is always with me,” May said. “This guitar was built with that spirit in mind — big, bold, elegant, and full of resonance, just like him.”
The guitar, crafted to May’s exact specifications by Gibson’s Custom Shop, features personalized inlays and a sunburst finish reminiscent of Queen’s vibrant stage presence. Hidden inside is a small inscription: “For F.M. – The Show Must Go On.”
