Tadej Pogačar has officially extended his contract with UAE Team Emirates through the 2030 season. This announcement, made on October 24, 2024, solidifies his commitment to the team he joined in 2019. The extension comes on the heels of a historic 2024 season, where Pogačar achieved a remarkable triple crown: winning the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and World Championships, a feat not accomplished since 1987. His 25 victories in 58 days of racing set a new single-season record in professional cycling.

The new contract is reported to be one of the most lucrative in cycling history, with Pogačar set to earn €8 million annually over the next six years. Additionally, the contract includes a €200 million buyout clause, underscoring the team’s commitment to retaining their star rider.

Pogačar expressed his pride in continuing with UAE Team Emirates, stating, “This team has been my home now the last five years, and I truly can’t imagine myself anywhere else.” He credited the team’s staff, management, and partners for enabling him to perform at the highest level. Team Principal Mauro Gianetti praised Pogačar’s dedication and hard work, noting his growth from a young talent to a world champion.

The contract extension not only secures Pogačar’s future with the team but also reflects a broader trend in professional cycling towards long-term contracts. UAE Team Emirates has also secured commitments from other young talents, indicating a strategic approach to building a stable and competitive team for the future.

With this extension, Pogačar is poised to continue his dominance in the sport, aiming for further success in the upcoming seasons.
