
SAD NEWS: 30-year-old cyclist Mathieu van der Poel Forced to End Career: “I Had No Choice”
In an emotional announcement that has shocked the cycling world, Dutch superstar Mathieu van der Poel confirmed he is retiring from professional racing at just 30 years old. The Alpecin–Deceuninck rider, widely regarded as one of the sport’s most versatile and exciting talents, cited ongoing health problems and repeated injuries as the reasons behind his decision.
“I had no choice,” van der Poel said during a tearful press conference. “My body has given me everything it could, but I can’t ignore the medical advice anymore. It’s time to stop before I do permanent damage.”
