In one of the most sensational transfers in modern cycling history, Tadej Pogačar has signed a 4-year deal with Ineos Grenadiers worth an estimated \$125 million, instantly making him the highest-paid cyclist in the sport. The announcement was made on Tuesday morning in London, confirming weeks of speculation linking the Slovenian superstar to the British WorldTour team.

Pogačar, 26, leaves UAE Team Emirates after years of dominance that saw him win multiple Tour de France titles, Monuments, and nearly every major stage race he entered. The move is being hailed as a power play by Ineos to reclaim its former Tour-winning pedigree after seasons of being overshadowed by Jumbo–Visma and UAE.

“I want to thank UAE Team Emirates for everything,” Pogačar said in a prepared statement. “They helped me achieve my dreams, but I feel it’s time for a new challenge. Ineos has an incredible history, a fantastic group of riders, and I’m excited to be part of that project.”

Ineos Grenadiers Team Principal Sir Dave Brailsford described the signing as “transformative.”

“Tadej is the most complete rider of his generation,” Brailsford said. “His versatility, his fighting spirit, and his relentless quest for improvement align perfectly with our vision. This is a statement of intent from our team.”

Pogačar is expected to lead Ineos’ Grand Tour campaigns, with a clear target on reclaiming the Tour de France title. The British outfit has seen its dominance wane since the era of Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas, but Pogačar’s arrival signals an all-in push to return to the top step of the podium.

According to insiders, the contract includes extensive support staff, personalized altitude camps, and strategic input into team roster decisions to ensure Pogačar has the best possible platform for success.

UAE Team Emirates issued a gracious farewell, with Team Manager Mauro Gianetti praising Pogačar’s professionalism and achievements.

“We are grateful for everything Tadej has given this team,” Gianetti said. “He’s not just a champion but a fantastic person. We wish him nothing but success in the future.”

Cycling fans are already buzzing about the potential battles between Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepoel, and Primož Roglič in next year’s Grand Tours, now with the Slovenian superstar riding in the iconic Ineos colors.

The deal will see Pogačar join Ineos Grenadiers for the 2026 season, with the team expected to unveil a special jersey presentation later this year.
