The Dallas Mavericks have announced they’ve secured Australian guard Dante Exum on a new multi-year contract, rewarding his strong play and cementing his role as a key backcourt contributor. The deal, finalized late Monday, is reported to be worth \$18 million over three years, sources close to the negotiations revealed.
Exum, who returned to the NBA with Dallas last season after a successful stint in Europe, impressed with his defensive tenacity, smart playmaking, and efficient scoring. Meanwhile, veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie is headed to the Los Angeles Clippers after agreeing to a two-year, \$28 million deal. Dinwiddie, who played a key role in Dallas’s 2022 Western Conference Finals run, had been linked to several teams in free agency before choosing the Clippers’ pitch, which included a starting role and strong championship ambitions.
“I loved my time in Dallas and appreciate the fans and organization,” Dinwiddie said via social media. “But I’m excited to chase a title in LA. Let’s work.”
The moves mark another step in the Mavericks’ summer reshaping of their roster as they look to better support Dončić and Irving in a tough Western Conference.
